29 Красавіка Беларуская грамада Чыкага зладзіла дабрачынную акцыю ў памяць 37 гадавіны Чарнобыльскай катастрофы - падзеі прынесшай гора мільёнам людзей і стаўшай сымбалем злачыннасці і некампетэнцыі савецкага і другіх таталітарных рэжымаў. Дзень Чарнобыльскай катастрофы стаў нагодай пратэсту супраць размешчання ядравай зброі ў Беларусі.
Па традыцыі, Беларусы Чыкага ў супрацоўніцтве з Sam Leone Beach Park Advisory Council высаджваюць травы на беразе возера Мічыган для ўмацавання берага. Падчас рускай агрэссіі ва Ўкраіне, жорсткіх палітычных рэпрэссій у Беларусі, і гадавіну катастрофы, Беларусы Чыкага дэманструюць, што жыццё, любоў, годнасць і гонар перамогуць нянавісць, смерць і руйнаванне.

The Belarusian Community of Chicago and the Sam Leone Beach Park Advisory Council planted grasses and trees to conserve the beach ground and clean up the Sam Leone Beach Park commemorating the 37th anniversary of Charnobyl Disaster.
It became a tradition that the Belarusian Community of Chicago gathers at the Sam Leone Beach Park in memory of the Chornobyl disaster that put the lives of millions in grave danger and brought about an ecological catastrophe. The Charnobyl anniversary is a historical reminder of the incompetence and malign nature of the Soviet and other totalitarian regimes.
During the Russian aggression in Ukraine, brutal political repressions in Belarus, and the anniversary of the Charnobyl nuclear disaster, the Belarusian community aims to demonstrate that life, dignity, and love are stronger than hate and destruction. This year, we also want to highlight and protest Putin’s and Lukashenka’s plans to deploy nuclear weapons in Belarus.
The Russian aggression in Ukraine, the pain and misery of the destruction, the Stalinist political repression in Belarus, and the unlawful deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus by Russia are the products of dictatorship, authoritarianism, and totalitarianism.
Democracy is precious.
